iPad review

I sold my laptop to fund my purchase and went with the 64gb wifi since i have been using an iPhone without a data plan and it works for me. If I need full computer use i have a home family computer and can remote access into it. I use logmein and the performance is useable. You wouldn’t stream video via a shared screen but can do a lot with it. Also set up a separate vnc server for my account so that even if we are logged in and watching a video on the guest account I can access my desktop.

The 32 gb would probably have been enough but i didn’t want to skimp since i was getting rid of my laptop and a trip abroad was going to mean loading it up and not syncing for a while.

I like the thought of the 3G version but will probably wait for a revision before doing that. The cool thing is the ala carte data, you can sign up for just one month at 15.00 for 250mb that month. So its not an ongoing fee. I would likely only use it when travelling.

The apps are cool and remote desktop and watching movies are great. I think in time the utility will only get better. The restrictive nature of the os makes me a little sad, but it makes it simple and quick to use. Don’t believe the hype yet on the office apps like Pages. It mangles formatting on import due to different fonts or some pagination. It works for simple docs or if you can work around the layout issues. I’m more interested in the other office compatible apps at this point.

New hosting and updating website

I’ve moved my hosting from a home server to an official hosting server which will increase availability. I’d be happy to entertain and suggestions from my visitors. Let me know via the contact page if you have any suggestions.
