Twitter - links for advanced uses

Twitter is really just another message technology but can be hooked together in unique ways via its API and other web sites that help to use a messaging service in novel ways. You might ask yourself, why bother with some of these 'mashups' of information into your Twitter account. But in reality it is for convenience and to simplify all the places you may be present. The last link is the most versatile for some things I'd like to implement using twitter.

Examples can be using twitter to notify you when your server stops responding on the internet, or when someone comments on your blog posts, when you want a reminder from your calendar appointments.

Create reminders from google calendars that tweet you in advance of your appointments.

Life and Death - Destination Unknown

I found out today that over the weekend a coworker was killed while riding a motorcycle. It is such a tragedy that our roads cannot be made safer than they are today. Its an acceptable risk everyone takes when they get on the roads. We assume things will be ok and will arrive at our destination. Why can't it just be so?

My heart goes out to his family, his wife and two daughters ages 9 and 12. I wish there was something more that I could say other than I'm so sorry for your loss. I've experienced close losses myself and know that the difficulty never goes away, it merely becomes the new normal of your life.

As we go out each day, know you're destination. Do your best to make sure you get there.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

When knowledge becomes a part of a society, it is for the benefit of all that it is unencumbered. I believe in the free sharing and use of culturally significant information and material.

Fun Ads - Bravia and Tango

I know these are two ads being promoted, but the concepts are just too cool to ignore.

Sony came out with an ad concept to promote their 'at the time new' Bravia televisions which had vibrant and bright color.

Then Tango basically has spoof'd the ad with this. Its a really nice nod and humorous take on such a fun ad.
